Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
