The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Over Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
